VW Polo reset service indicator

I found the instructions here on the vPerformance blog: http://www.vperformance.co.uk/2016/05/16/vw-polo-reset-service-indicator/

How to reset the service light on a Volkswagen Polo 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006

How do I reset my service indicator dashboard light?

I had great difficulty finding this online, but here's how to do it:

  1. Turn the engine off and take keys out.
  2. Press and hold the button below the speedometer.
  3. Keep holding, and put keys in and turn on (but don't start the engine).
  4. Release button, then turn the button/knob to the right and hold (as if adjusting the clock minutes).
  5. Hold until the display resets.
  6. Release the button and remove your keys.
Perhaps Google will index this page and save people some time in future!

PS: I've also tested this on a Seat Altea / XL and it works on that too!

  33. Thanks a million, I just went and sat in my car in the dark to test it out. Was getting annoyed initially because I didn’t follow instructions properly, when instructions are Followed then cant go wrong. I kept missing the step
After switch engine on but not the car I’d be like ok this is where it says restart it lol bimbo I know. Thank you so much, never had a problem with my car ever just stupid light came up the min I brought it. Mine worked on a 55 plate polo
